The Gist of it

Hey there!

The general idea for this website is for people to understand, experience, and inquire about my work! I am a journalism major with a minor in creative writing. I hope to use my degree to travel, write, and continue climbing–– of course! This blog and website will help me to find the right career path and hopefully inspire others to get out there and enjoy the world!

The theme of this blog is very nature oriented. Growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, I can't help but show off some hometown love on the website. I dream of traveling but not on a jet plane or cruise ship, no. I dream of traveling on four wheels. After graduation I plan on purchasing a van, gutting it out, and renovating it into a living space. From the van, I will travel, write, and experience life in a humble manner. My goal is to leave nothing but footprints and a good story on this planet. I know it may sound crazy but, this is the way I want to experience our land. All I really need is something to write with and my climbing gear!

This platform relates to my major and my minor because I will be writing about experiences that I hope to publish or write about professionally when I graduate. Upon graduation it would be a true blessing to work for a climbing magazine, outdoors magazine, or ultimately National Geographic! I hope to show these dreams through my writing on this site.

I am inspired by a handful of climbing magazines and documentaries with this site. I am also inspired by the van-life community as a whole. National Geographic will always hold a place close to my heart. So, with all of that being said, this website is inspired by a variety of things!

I am trying to reach people who have a passion for the outdoors, climbing, hiking and everything that falls in between. Just like the trail, I am trying to reach Mountains to Sea here!
